One Year of Living in Seattle! (Well, kind of...)

This week on June 15th, we are celebrating our 1 year anniversary for closing on the condo.  And with a little bit of work, we've made the condo into a little haven.  The last 2 visits were not really a vacation since we tore out the entire kitchen (down to the subfloor and sheetrock) and built it back up.  In some ways, we have a nicer kitchen up there then we do in our home!  We have new alder cabinets, granite countertops and one of my favorite additions is the miniature glass tile and slate backsplash.  I was a little nervous installing it (you have to get the lines perfectly straight), but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool.  Check it out!

Bye Bye 80's...

Welcome 2012!

One highlight of the whole project was how easy it was to list our cabinets, old appliances and sink online and then watch folks just come and pick up everything we had.  We did give the cabinets away for free since we didn't want to haul them off, but other than that, we got rid of everything and made a little extra cash.  (We have a funny story about the Pastor who came to pick up the cabinets - Travis got to know him very well!)  It's great the Travis is so handy since he was able to do the plumbing and electricity.  We did get a couple quotes to see what it would cost to hire a contractor and let's just say contractors are a bit pricey in Seattle.  It's a small kitchen and I'm glad we did it ourselves.

Condo = Happy Family! ;)
