First swim party!

Mia has been dying to get out there in her pink polka dot bikini and although she was a bit hesitant to jump in the cold water, she quickly figured out how much fun it could be. It was 100 degrees yesterday so I'm sure the cold water eventually felt good. We had a great 24th of July which is a Utah state holiday. Both Travis and I took the day off and celebrated with neighbors and fireworks. Only 3 more weeks until this little girl turns 1 year old! We're making party plans and hope to have her 1 year photos back by then. Can't wait to post a few on the blog when we get them. ;)

The Gulfstream 550

So, there are perks while working at eBay, but now that I'm a mom, is it weird to say that I would have rather been home? :) The Gulfstream 550 is the eBay Corporate Jet and I got to feel like a true executive on my last trip to San Jose. There were many of us that flew, so somewhere along the budgeting lines, it made more sense to take the jet. The fresh kiwi, papaya and warm chocolate chip cookies from the oven were a nice touch. I'm nearly 100% sure I will never experience such a lifestyle ever again - it was
my once in a lifetime!

Back at home, my mom is still recovering. She's getting a lot of help and isn't feeling so well just yet. I imagine we're about 2 weeks out before she's able to get around on her own again. It is kind of a slow recovery...now I know what Travis went through with me! This week is a big week for us since we're celebrating Scott's 32nd birthday tomorrow. Also, Mia has her 1 year pictures on Wednesday. We're just trying to protect her from a bruise or scratch on the face before we get the photos done. And last, but not least, Jeanette gets married in 10 days!! I can barely wait. Don't let me worry you, but in my mind, summer is winding down. Before you know it, we'll be in September and getting ready for Fall. It's my favorite time of the year.

Surgery Successful

Today was my mom's gallbladder surgery and it's been successfully removed. She's feeling weak, but it seemed like everything went very well and it was only a 2 hour surgery. She's ready to be out of the hospital - she can barely stand it. We're hoping she gets to go home tomorrow, but we'll need to see how she's doing. My Aunt will be in town on Monday and so although I need to go to San Jose for work, it will be nice to have her here to spend time with my mom. Just wanted to give you all the update. I'll try to post more later. Night night!

Dreaming of white sand beaches and turquoise waters

It's been a bit of a rough weekend. Last Thursday, my mom began feeling ill and kept getting worse. By Friday night, I took her into the ER only to find out that she has pancreatitis which was most likely caused by gallstones and will need surgery to remove her gallbladder. Sound familiar? Is this thing hereditary or what? So, anyway, she's in horrible pain, not really coherent and has been in the hospital since early Saturday AM. Travis has been out of town and so life has been a bit hectic juggling Mia, my brother (who was at my house and supposed to spend the weekend with me) and mom. I just feel terrible that she has to stay in the hospital all week. We're waiting for her pancreas to calm down before the operation. The good news is that Travis will be home tomorrow and I will be able to spend more time by her side. For now, the doc thinks the surgery will be no sooner than this upcoming Thursday. I think I'm more worried about her recovery than anything else. Since I've been through it, I know what it's like and I can't imagine how much more difficult it will be with her current state of health. Wish us luck this week because I think we're going to need it!

On a lighter note, I am truly dreaming of white sand beaches and turquoise waters. This year is our 10 year anniversary and we've booked a trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Neither of us have been to this particular island and so we're really looking forward to the celebration in the Fall.
10 years?!
Has is really been 10 years? I know, I'm thinking the very same thing. It doesn't seem possible, but the sneaky, little gray hairs that pop up are always a nice reminder.
