April Showers Bring May Showers

This May has been one of the coldest ever (and to think that last May when I was pregnant, it was one of the hottest ever)! We still have snow capped mountains and experienced a rough last two weeks while trying to replace our roof. Four out of the seven days last week were filled with thunderstorms. We faired okay, but have some fixin' to do where water leaked through our kitchen ceiling. :( Picture us on the roof at 4am during a monsoon trying to keep down the tarps and figure out where the water was coming in...yup, it happened more than once.
In the meantime, we've been putting Mia to work beginning with all the laundry she creates! And Miss Mia is showing signs of crawling this weekend. She had her 9 month appointment on Friday and showed the doc how she loves to to point, clap and wave like crazy. Check out the big girl drinking from a cup!

Play Date!

Mia has at least 5 good friends that are all about her same age. It will be fun to see them all grow up together!

Tired of sittin' around!

Just yesterday, someone got tired of sitting around the house and decided to take it upon herself to get up and get busy! I'm still a little miffed about the infatuation with the black remote, but look closely at the photo below...that's what she was going for. :)

I haven't given an update on us for a while, so I thought I would jot a few lines to get everyone caught up. Travis was in San Francisco a couple weekends ago to take his PE (Prof Engineer) exam. Two days, 8-hours each day of straight testing. SSSSICK. I would rather eat worms. So, I took a day off and Mia and I had a girls weekend. On the other hand, he stayed a day longer, met up with a friend and enjoyed a Giants/Cardinals game. Speaking of baseball (for those of you who also enjoy the MLB Extra Innings package)...looks like we'll be able to go to another Cubs game at Wrigley this year! We've only been once before and yes, it was magical (Chicago dogs rule). I'll be headed there for work and I think Travis is going to try to bring Mia along. He's committed for now, but we'll see if he backs out with more thought about traveling alone in the airport with child. Otherwise, my work is out of control crazy busy these days (lots of change coming up), but the good news is that I'm up for sabbatical now. After 5 years, you get 1 month paid so I need to make some plans!

Lastly, for all you who have asked, I've unsuccessfully TRIED and TRIED to add "Comments" to my blog, but for some reason, they don't show up. :( Could be Operator Error and I clearly know that, but it's not as easy as clicking the buttons - something is messed up with the HTML. I'll keep working on it...so sorry!

Starting to Scoot...

There's no teeth to report, not even rolling over. Instead, she'll sit up and play for hours and now is starting to lean forward and inch her way into a semi-crawling position. There's times when she'll end up on her tummy, kick her back legs like she's in a pool, but then get frustrated because she's going nowhere. Travis & I watch in amazement and then we'll turn to each other and give each other a look of fear. It appears that it's only a few short weeks when this little person will be crawling and yes, we are very afraid.

My Favorite Things

This past month, Mia has loved tubby time and going on walks! We can't wait for the weather to be better, but if you see a dad with two beagles on leashes and a child swaddled in a Bjorn, that's my husband. The most distinct characteristic of them all is that there's still snow on the ground and my husband is in a t-shirt and shorts - go figure.

Hippity Hop!

Bunnies everywhere! Everyone in our family loves bunnies, especially the beagles. Although I must say that bunnies do NOT like beagles. Our neighbors invited Mia over for their annual Easter Egg Hunt and it was wild to think that Mia will be actively participating in next years hunt. She had to find 18 light green eggs filled with goodies. I don't remember Easter Egg Hunts being so fun!

Is it Summer yet?

We had 7" of snowfall just yesterday...we can barely stand it anymore. So, in preparation for days to come, we got out the sunglasses just to see what little missy looks like. K - that's hilarious!! Where's the beach?!
Happy St. Patty's Day, everyone!!
